The first ever contract made by Sooriya in 1968. In search of a suitable female voice for “Dilhani” finally found in Indrani Perera, the album was released only after an year of signing the contract.
The album grossed highest revenue record at the time with the evergreen hit “Dilhani”.
Clarence Wijewardena on rhythm guitar, Sunil Malawana and Anton Goonetilake on lead guitar and Chanaka Perera on bass guitar.
A melodious lullaby sung for a little girl named Dilhani, the song “Dilhani” was the very first song performed by The Moonstones. The song is dedicated to Sri Sangabo Corea’s second daughter who was only two week’s old when the song was written.
“Kusumalatha” describes the beauty of a girl named Kusumalatha. Song uses blocked guitar tone for the first time in Sri Lanka in a song.
A romantic scene in a bird’s nest forms the theme of “Sumudumal” better known as “Kurulu Joduwak”.
“Gonwassa” a dialogue between an angry young man whose paddy field is destroyed by a calf and a village belle who comes to claim the calf. The villagers having caught the calf, tied it to a post at the bazaar to be sold to a slaughter house intending to give the money to the owner of the paddy field. Clarence witnessed this incident during a visit at a friend’s village.
