
Debuted as a fire limbo dancer, Dane Ensi Fareena Lye’s first appearance in cinema was for the Tamil film “Majal Kankumam” in 1969.
‘Ohoma Hondada’ marks her entrance to Sinhala cinema in 1970 with the support of Herbert Ranjith Peiris and Gamini Fonseka. Much sought after for dance acts in Sinhala cinema ever since, Fareena has contributed to nearly 60 films. ‘Sadahatama Oba Mage’ ‘Dinum Kanuwa’, ‘Sanakeliya’, ‘Nilla Soya’, ‘Sarungalaya’ to name a few.
‘Chin Chin Nona’, ‘Mal Kekulu’, ‘Uthumaneni’, ‘Rathu Makara’, ‘Seema Pawuru’ are some of the films which saw her acting skills.
She was awarded with Sarasaviya Best Supporting Actress (1980), OCIC Best Performance (1980) and Presidential Merit award (1980, 1981, 1982).
The go to fire limbo act of yesteryear, that grace and presence has not been seen on stage since.

Fareena was featured on Sooriya EP record by Mendis Foursome for an instrumental by the guitar wizard Dorian Abeywardene.
Her performances at live Sooriya stage shows were much popular among the crowds.
